The episode starts with Hyun Moo joking that he didn't think the show would last this long. Ha, this is why you're nicknamed the Heartless Man!
Se Yoon says that the first episode premiered in July 2014. Everyone thanks the viewers for loving Abnormal Summit.
We get a flashback to the first episode when G11 was introduced for the first time. Even though I'm watching it for the second time, it's still funny how flustered the MC's were at some members' affectionate(?) greetings.
Seeing James and Australian Daniel after a while made me realize how much I liked them.
We return to the present. The MC's ask if any of them think they contributed to the success of Abnormal Summit.
Julian made a "Bon-Bang-Tang-Tang" (본방탕탕) beer video that went viral on SNS. Due to the members' funny nature in the video, people expected a lot of the show. The MC's agree that the video helped increase ratings.
Takuya says that public recognition increased a lot for him. His hand actually became popular through the show and people call him 섬섬옥수 as a nickname.
MC Hyun Moo says that people have left the show. He asks if they remember the one-day guests that filled in for those members. Yes, they do.
Flashback to the one-day guests. The guests are Semi from Egypt (who brought much laughter and knowledge about Egypt), another Alberto from Italy (not to be confused with the G11 member), Ilya from Russia, Alvaro from Colombia, Blair from Australia
Back to the present. MC Hyun Moo asks if the Abnormal Summit cast members have their own favorite scenes. Alberto says there's a scene he watches when he feels down. It's the scene of Zhang asking the time.
The scene that Alberto is taking about happened when a famous female model guested on the show. Zhang and the model act out a scene. Zhang is interested in the model and wants to ask her out.
Zhang: Do you know what time it is?
Model: *looks at her watch* It's 4:30.
Model: *looks at her watch* It's 4:30.
Zhang: Wow, my watch also says it's 4:30. We must be fated to be together.
LOL the model said that Zhang is too innocent. Hyun moo says it's either that or he's the neighborhood fool hahaha. "It's strange, why are our watches set to the same time?" hahahahaha.
Alberto and the model act out the same scene. Wow, Alberto is a pro at getting girls.
The MC's talk about their favorite Alberto scene where he couldn't pronounce "refrigerator" in Korean. However, Alberto proves that he can pronounce it now. The MC's then call out Zhang on how he can't pronounce "This" in Korea, which is "Yee-kka-jit"
Guillaume says his favorite scene was when Se Yoon put on a mime show. When Se Yoon pretended to be Spiderman, it was hilarious. Si Kyung said his favorite part of the mime show was when Se Yoon pretended to be a monkey that got sprayed with pepper spray.
In present day, Se Yoon puts another mime show. First, he mimes a Takuya monkey, ha. Basically he mimes a monkey and puts out his hand like Takuya does. The second is a Tyler monkey. Tyler is known for making V signs with both hands. The third one is an Alberto monkey. Se Yoon imitates the face that Alberto makes when he tried to say "refrigerator." The fourth and final one is a Sam monkey. Ha, the monkey says Sam's catchphrase, "You can't" in Sam's unique way of speaking Korean.
Robin's favorite scene was from the Chuseok special when his team sang Julian's song "Hooray." Zhang says that his team did better with the song "Happy." Flashback to the performance. Ha, during the performance Zhang forgot the English lyrics so he made up Chinese lyrics.
The MC's say that performance-wise, they can't forget Guillaume's performance of Sung Si Kyung's "On the street." Cut to the performance. The MC's say that Guillaume needs to practice singing more.
Flashback to Julian, Australian Daniel and Robin's performance of Julian's song.
The MC's talk about how they miss the English James, who left in the early episodes of the show. Flashback to touching moments from Abnormal Summit's past episodes. In the flashback, each member sends a video message to their parents.
There's also sweet flashbacks to messages from English James and a Korean guest. James says do try to go after your dream and that success is different for each person. Do what is right for you. The guest says that it doesn't matter what dream you have; what matters is your happiness.
Se Yoon says "Happy New Year" and that they will continue the show until they are all normal.
Hyun Moo sings his last rendition of "Some" of 2014.
My Comments:
As a year-end special, this episode was disappointing. There were too many flashbacks and the flashbacks were too long. Unlike the other episodes, there wasn't any substance. No agenda, no topics and no debates. There are so many good topics that the writers of the show could have chosen. I understand that the cast had to go on vacation for the holidays, but they knew that the holidays were coming so they could have filmed beforehand.
However, the good thing that this episode did was focusing on the cast members and the MC's. They are the reason that this show is so successful. Some flashbacks like Zhang and Alberto's attempts at flirting were funny, but others were unnecessarily long.
One bad episode doesn't ruin a show though. I look forward to watching Abnormal summit in 2015.
